A message to every single teenager out there!

There are many things that pressure you when you're in high school...

there's grades, projects, school works, grades, activities, being late, grades, your teachers, and yeah... did i mention grades?

well anyway, there is something which is a bit bigger than those things I mentioned, something only teenagers really care for...

it's having a relationship with the opposite sex... or having a love-life.

I wouldn't understand having one, I'm still single.

sometimes i get jealous when i see my friends with their bf/gf doing cute stuff with each other. it kinda irritates me.

sometimes i think "will i ever get a girlfriend??" or "am i THAT unattractive?!"

i tried being optimistic about it.

i thought "Hey, you're still 15 years old. don't beat yourself up because you don't have a gf."

ever since our retreat I've learned to love myself first before trying to love other people. if i couldn't love myself right, how can i love other people right?

right?

I am often asked for advice about other people's love lives. They tell me I give good advice.

I find it kinda weird though. how can someone, who doesn't have a clue what happens in a relationship, give good advice?

anyway, for people like US, (I'm talking to everyone there who doesn't have a relationship and is desperate to find one) don't fret, someone will come into your life and make you happy. don't look for it, don't rush it...

Me?

i'm not rushing love... people tell me not to look for love but rather wait for it.

So I followed their advice and they're right.

why not try to love yourself first before you try to love someone else?

The GENIUS that is Geoffrey Chaucer: Greed

Geoffrey Chaucer; known as the “Father of English literature”, A GENIUS in every aspect of the word.

Geoffrey Chaucer is the author of “the Canterbury Tales” A collection of tales from pilgrims.  Out of these brilliant stories I would say that my favorite one would be “the Pardoner’s Tale” because of its plot. I’ve never been a real fan of reading. I’ve read books from time to time but didn’t really enjoy them. I was always a very picky reader but, this tale really caught my attention.

“The Pardoner’s Tale” is a story of three thieves trying to get bags of gold hidden under a tree and how their greediness got the better of them. Nowadays, I could safely say that “money makes the world go ‘round” because the essence of money is the way you’re categorized in society. Imagine yourself winning a million pesos in the lottery, wouldn’t that be great? Well that’s how the three thieves felt about the bags of gold. Greediness overcame them; they wanted it all for themselves. That’s why in the end death became them.

MONEY can turn you into anything, even into something you don’t like. These three thieves became murderers because of a few pieces of gold. They didn’t even care about their comrades as long as they became rich. And they all suffered the same fate; death.

I would say that this story is a masterpiece, a great read for any youngster or teenager who wants to grow up right. It has opened up my mind to a clearer view of how the world goes.

My Hero/Heroine

What is a hero?

I took the liberty of interviewing a few kids in our neighborhood of what they think a hero is. A lot of them said superman because he has super powers, batman because he saves live, the flash because he runs fast.

But one answer astounded me. “My mom” was her answer.

My mother, she’s my heroine, sure she can be a little annoying at times. Not to mention overly protective and very nosy! But still, I love her.

That’s just how mothers act. If they didn’t do that to you, they don’t love you.

“Hero” means someone who is admired for his/her brave deeds and noble qualities.

I consider my mom all of these. Our family survives on a shoe-string budget yet she still pursues to let me finish in T.U.M.C.S.

I admire her for that; it takes so much courage to go for something you don’t know if you can finish in the long run. She’s just looking at that small gleam of hope that I can finish my studies and get a job so that I can take over financial problems for her.

Sometimes, i see her with her hand on her head looking a bit irritated. I feel pity; to see my mom go through these problems is just too much for me to bear.

But once I see her smile, it makes me happy that… even through ALL this troubles

She could still give a warm, loving smile to us.

That is why I consider my mom a HERO
